Book Design for Annina Nosei

Annina Nosei’s legacy is perhaps most widely known for her early and essential support of Jean-Michel Basquiat in her gallery at 100 Prince St. in Soho, to whom she offered not only his first studio but also his first solo exhibition and practically being the first gallerist to launch him in the art world. After working with Ileana Sonnabend in Paris and moving to the United States, Nosei became a pivotal figure in the contemporary art world with the opening of the Annina Nosei Gallery in 1980. There, she nurtured the early careers of a generation of now-iconic artists, including not only Basquiat but also Jeff Koons, Barbara Kruger, Keith Haring, Julian Schnabel, Ghada Amer, and Shirin Neshat.
